The Revolution is being Televised: Propaganda for a New Age
One of the realities that we are struggling with in this first 100 days of Trumpism is the realization that the MAGA information funnel has effectively used their time and their dubious talents to create a parallel universe within the media.
In their time warp, they see Dems & Libs as ‘weak’ that need to be ‘owned.’ And in MAGA world, all is pure and bright and MAGA Christian Right. There is no ‘woke’ ideology, and there are no alternate viewpoints. There is a cult-like worship of their Dear Leader. And there is no room for dissent.
That is why the right used their “Talking Points’ so effectively during the last election cycle. All of America was talking about those people that were eating the ‘dogs & cats,’ remember? And they talked of imaginary caravans, and they kept up the spin of a dark cabal of elites led by George Soros. And President Biden was alternately depicted as a drooling vegetable or a dark overlord mastermind who was manipulating the entire world in a dark and evil lair.
The reality is this-all of their memes and talking points and rapid response artillery of disinformation and lies are still spun together on a daily basis. And with the advent of Elon’s Twitter (X), the die was cast. They used their weapons on podcasts and Sinclair Media and Fox together with the Billionaire brain trust to win the election. It was always going to be ‘any means to justify an end’ in their estimation. It doesn’t matter what you must do or say. You only must WIN.
That is still the goal. And the Talking Points are a quaint and ineffective term to use for what is being spun now. These are Propaganda Talking Points-the tools that an Authoritarian regime uses to spin their message on a daily basis. Russian disinformation is just as good as our own home-grown spiel.
That is why, in order to become a member of the Loyal Opposition, it’s important to remember who and what we are dealing with on a daily basis. This is no longer an American operation. This is an international operation and it’s not really part of the traditional give and take that the GOP vs Dems used for many decades.
This operation is warfare. It leads to warfare and it is a deadly game for many. We know that it’s not a game at all. It’s part of the Billionaire’s brain trust which grew much larger than the pastoral picture we saw of Clarence Thomas & Leonard Leo in their Country Club Republican oasis. That era was useful-and it has come and gone. Even Justice Thomas may find himself in the dust when and if he is discarded by the group that has taken hold of the country in a dust storm of propaganda and DOGE operations.
Like a spinning top, where this will end, no one knows. However, we have been spun off the axis of the simple push and pull of everyday political ‘spin.’ We are now living in a world of Revolutionary Propaganda-and yes, the Revolution will be televised!
